The University of Extremadura (UEx), a public institution in southwest Spain, plays a strategic role in the MEDSOILS CHALLENGE project by contributing its long-standing experience in sustainability, digital education, and international cooperation. With over 20,000 students and a strong focus on natural resource management, UEx is recognised as a leader in environmental education and research. Its participation strengthens the development and piloting of the Joint International Master’s Degree by integrating expertise in ecosystem services, climate adaptation, and digital training tools. As coordinator of the EU GREEN European University Alliance and the “Campus of International Excellence” project HIDRANATURA, UEx ensures alignment with European sustainability strategies while reinforcing transnational collaboration in higher education.
